Citizenship Preparation classes prepare adults to
become Canadian Citizens.
The Citizenship Curriculum Guide provides a consistent and uniform approach to the instruction of citizenship preparation classes. The program includes a general overview of the following subject areas:
- Canadian History and Geography
- Rights and Responsibilities of a Citizen
- Government and Politics
- Elections and Voting Procedures
The ultimate goal of this curriculum is threefold: to prepare the citizenship applicant for
the interview/test and ceremony, to develop and broaden the learner’s knowledge of
Canadian culture, and to motivate active participation within the community.
