On Friday May 21, Archbishop Romero C.S.S. presented its 2nd annual "Romero Rocks" event in our own cafetorium, except that this year, Romero rocked "in Style" . "Romero Rocks in Style" was the first fashion show to be held within the annual Rock music competition, making it a 1 of a kind event! We even constructed a runway where students "could strut their stuff" on the "cat walk". The event was organized by Family Studies teacher Mrs. R. Hawa, Music teacher, Mr. V. Mio and Educational Assistant, Ms. S. Bonnici.

The fashion show was based on historical eras, whereby students modeled clothes starting with the cave man and woman, followed by ancient civilizations, which included the Egyptians and Romans. Our Vice-Principal, Mr. Bottoni modeled his Roman Senator costume along with Ms. Santilli as his lady companion. Mr. Fedelle and Mr.Kelly also portrayed Romans while performing their duties as judges for the Rock competition. Then there followed clothes from the Medieval and Victorian periods.

Incidentally, both Mr. Mio and Mrs. Hawa introduced the show wearing beautiful outfits from the Victorian era. Mr. Piddisi along with Ms. Bonnici also wore outfits from this period. Each era was introduced with a dance number using appropriate music complemented by a power point presentation prepared by Dorian Raganit and Michael Melo, where particular modes of dress were elaborated upon. The Masters of Ceremonies for the show were Dorian Raganit and Fabio Sousa, and the event alternated between fashion show segments and musical performances introduced by Mr. Mio. The performers were: Private Function, Asinine, Teeter, KB and Generation X.

The show also included 20 century clothes, beginning with the roaring 1920s, followed by the fabulous 1950s, the swinging 1960s, and the Feverish 1970s. 20 1st century clothes included a section on urban wear, where students had the chance to model their own designs. Then followed a segment on clothes from the future, where 2 grade 12 fashion industry students, Stefanie Altamare and Luigi De Lapena, designed and constructed a costume using aluminum foil and special reflective fabric.

In the penultimate segment, Mrs. Hawa's grade 11 & 12 Fashion Arts and Fashion Industry students proudly showcased and modeled their original pajamas, pants, hooded jackets, and craft designs. With the rich sounds of Andrea Bocelli, the grand finalé featured gorgeous prom dresses and classy tuxedoes, courtesy of Laura Stores and Classy Formal Wear at Yorkdale Mall. Mr. Kelly then announced the winning musical performers which were Teeter and KB.
