What is Involved in the Arrowsmith Program in the TCDSB

Students in the Arrowsmith Program typically spend 4 periods per day (50% of the day), on the Arrowsmith Program exercises and are in their home classroom for the rest of the day. This allows them to work on 4 problem areas at a time while still participating in part of the regular academic program. The expectation that students/parents make a commitment to the homework module is strictly enforced.

Students in the Arrowsmith Program work on individual programs of exercises that are designed for their areas of difficulty and are expected to do homework every night. Most students remain in the Arrowsmith Program for at least three to four years after which they return to the full-time academic program.

Arrowsmith Program Co-ordinators work with the teachers in each classroom that offers the Arrowsmith Program. They are able to monitor the progress of each student through an on-line record of treatment and provide an annual report on each student's progress.

Students working on the modules from the Arrowsmith Program are working on alternate curriculum during these periods.
