- Tai Chi Takes Centerstage as Chinese Community Celebrates Asian Heritage Month
The Chinese parents were cheered as they took the floor to perform Tai-chi, a Chinese concept of yin-yang, the notion that one can see a dynamic duality (male/female, dark/light) in all things, during the Asian Heritage Month (AHM) parent session about safety and communication at St. Matthias Catholic School last May 10. The International Language students of St. Matthias also demonstrated their Chinese language prowess through songs and poetry recitations in Chinese.

The Vietnamese Community Celebrates Asian Heritage Month With Gusto!
More than 100 parents, some of them wearing traditional Vietnamese costumes, participated in the parent sessions on topics about safety, transition to high school and discipline at St. Jane Frances Catholic School on May 4, 2008 during the Asian Heritage Month celebrations. The Toronto Catholic and Toront District School boards are proud to work with each other to jointly recognize Asian Heritage Month, and acknowledge the tremendous history and contributions of Asians within our school communities. Asian Heritage Month offers all Canadians an opportunity to learn more about the history of Asian Canadians and to celebrate their contribution to the growth and prosperity of Canada.
