Q. When will the summer position applications be available?

A. The application will more than likely be placed on this website in March. However we will NOT begin accepting applications until the month of April. We will place the application as soon as the position has Board approval.

Q. Does it matter when I send my application?

A. We place the applications in the order that they were received. Although we will continue to look for teachers until the opening day of Summer School and Night school, it is best to send it as early as possible when we begin to accept them. Those teachers who have been placed in a Summer School or Night School program before will receive priority. Please send your applications before the stated deadline (if stated on the website).

Q. I currently teach and have been working at a TCDSB school for a number of years. This is my first time that I would like to work during the summer/night period. Is there different form? Must I completely fill out the application form?

A. If you currently work at a TCDSB school and wish to teach at a Summer/Night School location, then you must fill out the TCDSB- Teacher Application provided on the previous webpage. Please do not assume that we have all your current files/records. For this reason alone we ask that you fill it out entirely with the exception of a priest reference letter.

Q. I have sent my application, who will contact me and when?

A. You will be contacted by a Summer School Principal or Supervising Principal in June prior to the start of Summer School.

For night school/Saturday school you'll be contacted just before the beginning of the program by the principal or supervising principals of the program.

Q. Can I email my application?

A. No, please mail or carrier your applications to the Continuing Education Dept. The address is provided on the application form. 

Q. Can I get a confirmation that the Continuing Education Dept. has received my application?

A. Please email continuinged@tcdsb.org to request confirmation.

Q. Last year I was teaching at a Summer School. Do I need to re-apply?

A. No, last year before you left you were asked to fill out a Return for Next Summer form. If you did complete this form and returned it back to your Summer School principal then you will be contacted in June. If you didn't fill out this form or if you are not sure then you should re-apply. If you currently teach with the TCDSB, fill out the entire form with the exception of a reference letter of a priest.

Q. I worked last year for Summer School/Night School and submitted a criminal record check at that point. Do I need to get another one?

A. By law, a criminal record check must be submitted each year. If you presently work for the TCDSB, this will automatically be included in your file as long as you have used the TCDSB ICOD system.

Q. What does the position "Teaching Assistant/Educational Assistant" consist of?

A. You would be working to assist students as directed by the teacher in either a regular program or special education program. You could be working with either Elementary or Secondary students. This is helpful experience for anyone pursuing a career in education.

Q. I worked last year as a Teacher Assistant/Secretary for the Summer Secondary Credit, Summer Elementary Grade 7 & 8 Program, Summer Special Education Elementary & Secondary, Night School and/or Saturday School. Would I need to send a new application form?

A. If you have previously worked for us, you need not reapply. ONLY complete a new application form IF you have moved or changed your phone number. Otherwise, as these positions become available, either the Continuing Education Dept or the Principal from the designated program will contact you from the information provided on our records.
