Guidance and Career Education Program

With the introduction of the Choices into Action Guidance and Career Education program for grades 1 to 12, effective September 1999, schools are revising their guidance and career education program plans. Each secondary and elementary school has access to trained and experienced guidance personnel who provide support to school staff with respect to the new guidance and career education school program. The program focuses on three areas of student learning—student development, interpersonal and career development—and assists all students to apply Christian values to life’s opportunities, challenges and choices. Components of the new program can include: Teacher Advisory program and Annual Education Plan for students in grades 7, 8 and 9, orientation and exit programs, academic and career portfolios, career exploration activities, mentorship and peer assistance programs, and individual assistance and short-term counselling.
