Religion in the schools

Through the Religious Education program, students in Catholic schools develop a basic knowledge of their faith tradition, as well as attitudes and skills which encourage personal relationship with Jesus Christ and participate in faith community committed to living the Gospel’s call to transform persons, relationships and structures.

Family Life Education enables students to become knowledgeable about the Christian vision of the human person, with a special focus on human dignity, living in relationship, sexuality, making commitments and contributing to human society.

Programs used in TCDSB schools for Religious/Family Life Education are developed and approved by the Canadian and Ontario Conferences of Catholic Bishops respectively.

The Christian spirit, Catholic teaching and moral training provided through the religious education and family life education permeate the entire curriculum and life of our Catholic schools.
