St. Benedict’s
The dedicated staff and students at St. Benedict’s Catholic School on Kipling Ave. have made their school one of the greenest in the entire TCDSB. Teachers Annamaria Fortini-Morano, Susie Oppedisano and Principal Derek Quinn, along with their keen students, have created a exemplary recycling system at St. Benedicts. Grade Five Students, donning bright orange ‘Energy Saver’ vests,  make sure that recycling is collected and taken to the curb, with the help of devoted Head Caretaker Efren Fernandez. In addition, St. Benedict’s ‘Energy Saver’ routinely patrol the school ensuring that lights and computer monitors are turned off, and offering suggestions to classes on how to conserve energy.

Secondary

TCDSB Environmental Youth Symposium

Cardinal Carter Academy
Cardinal Carter Academy is the first secondary school in the TCDSB to participate in the waste audit design program currently being undertaken by the Board. On January 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 of 2006, Marilyn Grace and her leadership/religion class conducted a facility-wide waste audit. This pilot project was done entirely by the students under the direction of Ms. Grace and Sean Hurley, Officer – Recycling and Waste Management. The students will now make suggestions for waste reduction initiatives at the school, and ensure their ideas are implemented.
