* TORONTO CATHOLIC PARENT INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE (Toronto CPIC) would like to thank CSAC members and parents for all of your support in our various initiatives in 2011. We wish you a blessed 2012 and look forward to continuing to work with the TCDSB community in order to support our children's educational success. Toronto CPIC is now planning to host a series of mini-summits / conferences in local Wards based on feedback received from participants at the November Summit. This is another opportunity for parents and CSACs to come together with other schools in their ward to network and share information on how to increase parent involvement.


The next meeting will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Blessed Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School at 40 Sewells Rd., Scarborough at 7:00 p.m. For more information on Toronto CPIC, a list of all meeting dates or to contact your ward representative with parent engagement questions or suggestions please visit our website at: http://www.tcdsb.org/ parents/cpicmembers.htm.

 

* This ASTHMA MANAGEMENT PLAN FORM can be a helpful tool for parents and caregivers of children who have asthma.

 

* Holy Cross Spring concert last May 2011 raised $ 3,000 for the Japan Earthquake relief fund. Hari Hosaki, Foundation Chair of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre Foundation acknowledges the gift from our community. Thank you letter

 

* ON YOUR MARK TUTORING PROGRAM extends a free program and academic assistance to any parents or students of Portuguese or Spanish speaking descent. After school tutoring starts on October 30, 2011 and Saturday tutoring starts on November 5, 2011. For more information visit On Your Mark. Click REGISTRATION for more registration information.

* We are reducing the amount of paper we use. If you would like to join in our initiative and receive your newsletter, school memos or CSAC newsletters and/or correspondence electronically, please print the form and return it to the school. Paper copies will only be available to those families who request them.

 

 

 

No Child Without® is a charitable program that offers all elementary school aged children with medical conditions or allergies, free MedicAlert protection regardless of their financial resources.Click NO CHILD WITHOUT for more information.

 

* MEDICATION - Students are not alloved to have any type of medication with them. The only exception is made for students who must carry an epi-pen. All medication must be stored in the office (including puffers). School personnel are not permitted to dispense or administer any type of medication without the written, signed authorization of the parent and the prescribing physican. The forms to dispense medication must be updated on a yearly basis. Contact the office if your require the proper forms.

* PIZZA DAYS ARE BACK! February 10 and 24. Remember, pizza days are Civvies Day!

 

*The next CSAC meeting - February 28, 2012 at 6:30 pm. These meetings are very informative and will help you better understand what is happening in your child's school.

* TTC Identification Cards: Students who are 13 years old are eligible for student rates. They must present a TTC identification card. Without this card, the student may be asked to pay the full adult fare.

 

* Update Family Information - If there has been a change of address, phone number (home, business or cell), please inform the school. This information is vital and helps ensure the safety of our students.

 

* Should you have changes to contact numbers or address information for your child, or if your child will be absent or will late from school, please contact Ms. Leanne Menna at (416) 393-5242. This is paramount for the safety of our students.

 

* Registration has begun for Junior Kindergarten! Parents are asked to call the school and book an appointment with Ms. Menna.

* Special Programs: Students who are struggling with academics are able to take advantage of special programs in the school.

 

* Please do not use the staff parking lot for dropping-off or picking up your child. It should be done in the school yard.

 

* Please ensure that your child(ren) are also appropriately dressed following the Appropriate Dress Code.

 

* All school visitors are to use the front school entrance off Memorial Park and report into the office.

* EPI-PENS Board policy requires that students who require epi-pens must have two epi-pens on them when going on a trip. If your child does not have two epi-pens, he/she will not be able to go on the trip. Please return the medical documents from families with children requiring Epi-Pens.
