Ontario Eco-Schools Certification
eco-pledge

The 2007/08 school year marked the beginning of an ambitious project for Holy Name Catholic School. In September of 2007, the school began to work collectively to become an Ontario Eco-School. Several intiatives were initiated during the school school year.

These included;

  • a litterless lunch program
  • classroom recycling program
  • computer monitor and classroom lighting assessment in each classroom
  • composting of lunch items (in several primary classrooms
  • greening of the school property
  • a meal worm, composting project
  • eco-spirituality program developed by each classroom in our school

With our diligent work throughout the year our school was awarded with GOLD status by Ontario Eco-Schools in June of 2008. In the coming year, we will continue our efforts with a substantial greening program to take place in our school yard and a number of other key intiatives.
