ABOUT
Loretto College, a secondary school for young Catholic women, was
founded by the Sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1916.
Within a caring and respectful school environment our learning community has
built a proud academic tradition which emphasizes humanities, math, computer
technology, science and fine arts. Our graduates successfully enter university
and college programs of their choice. We are located at 151 Rosemount Avenue,
in the Dufferin/St.Clair area.
We are a semestered school. Students take four courses from September to January
and another four courses from February to June. In Grade 9 and 10, students
select a program of study from courses at the academic, applied and open levels.
In Grade 11 and 12, courses are selected based on the students' post-secondary
choice of destination - university, college or workplace. In addition to the
academic program of study, students can explore and develop the full range of
their talents and interests by participating in athletics, student government,
peer ministry, yearbook, leadership, dramatic and musical activities.
As members of a faith community, students take part in Liturical worship, penitential services, grade-level retreats, and chairity food drives.
Students are required to take one credit in religious education in each year of high school.
Our Special Education program is delivered through integrated programming in the mainstream classroom.
