Hello Everyone:  This is Odd Week 31.  There are 33 days of school left for students to hand in unit work or write unit tests!  Please continue to remind them that time is ticking by….

Super TA interviews begin today and will run for the next two weeks.  It is our obligation to meet with every one of our advisees in our TA groups.  For those whom are new, the Super TA is an opportunity to make some firm decisions as to your advisee’s progress.  Decisions are made with respect to which courses will be completed by June, which will need to be taken to summer school, and which courses may need to be stopped/failed in an effort to secure credit in other courses.  This is a time of reckoning and we need to help students base their decisions and plans on reality rather than fantasy.  All interviews will be printed on BLUE paper and given to the office staff to mail out.  Please bring these completed TA interviews to the office on a daily basis and that way they will be sent home in a more timely fashion.  Please refer to the memo for more particulars.

Monday is a Day 0 – Modified Schedule.  This is Earth Week.  The Environment Club continues to sell their “green” water bottles outside the cafeteria.  They will also be available until the end of the day on Tuesday in the Science department.

Len, Amy and all other adults that have been involved in the production of Aladdin and The Magic Lamp will be presenting two previews to our staff and students on Monday.  We are looking forward to the show which promises to be yet another high quality Mary Ward perfomance!  The schedule for Monday is as follows:

This Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we will have many elementary schools attending Aladdin and The Magic Lamp.  Although the foyer area will be supervised, we would encourage you to remind your advisees that the foyer area is off limits during the morning.

The play will be performed this Thursday and Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m.  Len and Amy have graciously offered 2 complimentary tickets to all staff.  Please come and support your colleagues and the large number of Mary Ward students involved in this production!  Break a leg!

Mary Louise, Peter, and Karen Erle will be involved in our Exchange of Information meetings starting this week.  This involves meeting or discussing all incoming grade 9’s to Mary Ward next year.  As you can imagine, this is a very time-consuming process but will provide us with some excellent information in terms of how to best serve our newest students’ needs.  Good luck to the three!

This is a reminder that the Test Centre staff meeting will take place on Tuesday at 3 p.m.  This was re-scheduled from last week.

This Wednesday is Earth Day Civvies Day.  This will be a paid civvies day but at this point I do not have information as to the price.  Please stay tuned for more information.

As a reminder, Wednesday’s staff meeting at 3 p.m. is cancelled!

This Friday the Environment Club will be participating in the 20 Minute Make-Over.  Again, please stay tuned for more details.  Students in the French department will be going to see a French play in the morning.  They will be returning to Ward in the afternoon.

Please remind any of your advisees that applications are due on Friday for students interested in running for Student Council next year.

Thank you to all staff for your valuable input at last Friday’s Faculty meeting.  We have a number of topics to continue to discuss and those conversations will continue at the next Faculty meeting on May 11th.  If any staff have items they would like to add to the agenda, please forward them to Andrea.  As a follow up to Friday, the Steering Committee will meet this Thursday @ 2 p.m. in the Office Conference room.  Any teachers interested in being part of the Quad/TA Renewal Committee are asked to submit their names to Patricia ASAP.  We would like to get this committee running as soon as possible to consider how Quad/TA credit will look for next year.

            Other committee meetings this week:

  1. OASIS – Wednesday @ lunch (office conference)
  2. Steering – Thursday @ 2 p.m. (office conference)
  3. Calendar Committee – Friday @ lunch (office conference)  New members still welcome!

That is it for now.  Have a great week!
