Hello Everyone:  This is Even Week 32 out of 40!  We are definitely getting closer to the end.  At this point there are approximately 28 days of school left to hand in units or to write tests (this depends on who is counting!)  I’ve spoken to the Test Centre staff and they don’t necessarily see a big influx of students who need to write tests.  For those of you who are Teacher Advisors, please encourage your advisees to get any lingering tests taken care of right away.  The Test Centre staff have again offered to have several extra “Extended Test Centre hours” whereby students may stay late to take care of tests that need writing.  When these dates are finalized we will publish them for all to see.

Congratulations to the Drama department – Len Dalton and Amy Tsang on a successful staging of Aladdin and His Magical Lamp.  It was entirely entertaining.  To create a show like Aladdin requires tremendous support.  Thanks go out to Lee La Cavera, Julia Mary Harrison, Marissa Largo and Eileen Raymond for helping create such wonderful costumes.  Dave Emer and crew – adults and students helped construct excellent sets.  There was tremendous support both back stage and at the front of the house.  Mary Louise Ireland and Joann Newman helped get people where they needed to be.  Joanna Morra was a terrific help coordinating students to fold programs, collect tickets, and overseeing ushers.  Thanks to Peter Hathway and his tech crew who organized the sound system and lighting of Aladdin!  If you missed the show, our students were great.  They are a very talented bunch of individuals and there were many memorable performances.

Congratulations once again to Len, Amy and the entire cast and crew involved in Aladdin and His Magical Lamp!

Thanks also to Green Quest for organizing the 20 Minute Make-Over on Friday.  It was great to see so many students helping “green up” our school.

Super TA interviews are continuing to take place.  Every student in Mary Ward must have a Super TA interview.  If you have some students whom are ‘reluctant’ to take part in this process, please give a call home first and then contact your SBAT administrator/Guidance counsellor to lend a hand.  Please remember to follow up with home that parents have actually received the Super TA interview.  Thanks for your efforts in this important process!

On Monday, part 2 of the Differentiated Learning workshop with our Professional Learning Network elementary counterparts will take place all day in the Library Conference room.

Monday is also Unit 14 Target Date.  There will be NO CONDITIONAL ZEROS or Academic Alerts associated with this date.  This is a change from what was published previously.

On Tuesday the Special Education department will be involved in a Joint Team Meeting for the morning.  Barb McMorrow and Tony Brachan from Australia will be touring the school.  The ESP showcase will be taking place at the Winter Garden Theatre downtown.  Wendy Jones, Jen King and several Mary Ward students will be taking part all day.  Finally the Exemplary Practice Awards will be handed out at the Board at 6 p.m.  Congratulations to the Science department for their great PLN work with elementary schools.

This Wednesday we will be having an OASIS assembly for all grade 9 students.  Please remind your advisees to come directly to the cafeteria immediately after morning TA.  Later on Wednesday morning we will be holding a “Hold and Secure” drill.  This is the new name for Lockdown.  Please do not advertise to students when this will be taking place.  This will be an external threat simulation drill and will likely be the last of the year.  The Calendar Committee will meet 5th period in  the Office Conference room.

This Thursday, the Co-Op Department will host their annual appreciation luncheon.  The SBI4U students will be writing the University of Toronto National Biology competition.

Friday is the Asian Heritage Students Association movie night.  This will take place in the cafeteria after school.

That is it for now.  Have a great week.
