Hello everyone! It feels great to be back in Canada. The Band trip to Australia was an excellent experience for all. Our students performed brilliantly and their musical progress was obvious even for a non-musician such as me. We received many compliments on the students’ musical abilities as well as their conduct. Thank you to Rick, Vince, and Peter for all the work that went on both before and throughout the concert tour. Thank you also to all staff that supported the music tour in any way – chocolates, concert attendance, and general TA/student support academically. Your support was truly appreciated and Rick made mention of his colleagues back home at every concert!
By the way, we were able to meet with Kate Skillicorn at our last concert performance at a girls’ school called Stella Maris at Bondi Beach. Kate was able to spend the morning with us and heard the kids perform. The kids were excited to see Kate. She lives blocks away from this particular school but works at a neighbouring high school. Kate looks great – tanned and healthy. She oozes happiness and is more relaxed than I’ve ever seen her. Clearly, Australia and the Australian lifestyle agrees with her. Kate sends her love!
And now, back to reality…. This is Even Week 28 and there are now 48 days of classes left. Please remind your advisees. Good luck to our Reach for the Top team who compete after school on Monday at West Hill C.I.
Tuesday some members of United Social Justice will be participating in a Habitat For Humanity build in Scarborough (Lawrence/Manse Rd.) This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to truly give back to the community.
Wednesday during period 5, Paul Cerre has organized a panel discussion in the cafeteria for students interested in the growing number of college- to- university programs. Be sure to inform your advisees in grades 11 or 12 of this valuable information session. The HRT3M2 religion students are also off on a trip to the Centre for Diversity. Please check with your advisees whether they are participating in that particular trip.
Report card marks are also due this Wednesday. Please refer to the memo that was sent out previously. All marks must be submitted by 3 p.m. Thank you for your efforts with this.
This Thursday is a big day across Ontario. It is the annual writing of the OSSLT – Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. We will be having a modified schedule in which the grade 9’s will come to write the pre-test and the grade 10’s will be writing the “official” test. If a supervision schedule has been previously sent, please pardon my duplication. If not, all staff members will be expected to supervise in some for or other. If the supervision schedule has not come out yet, it will. Please know that all staff are needed to assist with the OSSLT. The modified schedule for the day is below:

Mark verifications will be available on Thursday and are due on Friday by 9am. Please make any corrections in red and indicate the change by an asterisk at the top of the particular page. Thursday after school is Mike Wetzel’s farewell party at Unionville Arms. Please join us as you are able after school. We look forward to getting together and visiting with Mike.
This Friday, our French exchange students are off for the return portion of their exchange experience. They will be gone from April 3 – 18. Bon voyage to our students as well as Madame Morgan and Madame McAndrew.
Friday will also see the Jr. Boys VB team with Coach Simone participate in a Libermann VB tournament. The track and Field team and Coach D’Agostino will also be participating in the Nike Adams Classic track meet at York University. Good luck to all.
The final University Deadline is Friday. Since Friday is a PA day, I’m not sure what has been arranged. Hopefully you all know. All tests and units are to be submitted for a total of 11 units completed. More information regarding this Friday’s P.A. day will be forthcoming. Stay tuned….
That’s it for now. Have a great week.
