Hello All: This is Even Week 26 and this is the last week before March Break. With the Australia trip coming up, this week’s music concert on Wednesday, and the general excitement of a week off school, we will need all staff to help keep a lid on the school. I am extending our thanks in advance.
Congratulations to Matt Candiotto and the Swim Team who competed in OFSAA last week. The girls placed 19th which was a very solid performance. Excellent job on a long and exhausting season!
Thanks to the Religion Department for yet another wonderful Philosophy Day. The students were engaged and appeared to be having a great time learning. Thanks for all your efforts in putting Philosophy Day together.
Last Thursday was our annual Grade 8 Registration at Mary Ward. This year we added the use of interact machines which helped to speed up our registration process. We managed to register over 250 between 4 – 7 p.m. Many thanks to Lynda, Paul, Mary Louise, Mike, Peter, Lynn, Judy Fleischacker, Paulette and Karen Erle.
On the sports front Nicole Powell, Cathy Saran and the Junior Girls’ Volleyball team competed against Bishop Allen in the TDCAA Finals. The girls took the silver medal which is a huge accomplishment considering they did not have as stellar a regular season. Way to go team!
Finally, word came via telephone that our Curling Teams did very well at the TDCAA Curling Championships. The girls’ team took the Silver and the boys’ team took the gold! Congratulations to both teams and to Coach Zidar and Coach Ste. Croix.
This Monday is an Extended TA to facilitate course registration collection. Please READ instructions from the Guidance Department. Accuracy really helps them out! Collection will take place this entire week in morning TA. The only extended day for collections will be on Monday. After Friday, any students that do not hand in forms or money will have to work through their Guidance Counsellors. Space next year is very tight. Students that do not hand in their forms run the risk of missing out on options of their choice. We will be entering all bubble sheets as we receive them!
This is a reminder that the Grade 10 boys’ conflict resolution classes will run Monday to Friday in the gym. This is part of their PHE program. Please remind your grade 10 male advisees that they need to honour their conflict-free block times.
In preparation for the Australia Farewell concert, the cafeteria will be set up for the concert and will be unavailable for seating students during lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday. Let’s hope both are good weather days for kids to go outside at lunch!
The Australia Farewell music concert will take place Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. This is a great way for the Australian-bound students to show their stuff to parents, friends, and staff. It is also a wonderful way to get used to performing the pieces they will be playing on their tour. If you have some time in your evening on Wednesday, come to the concert. Best of luck for the concert and on the Australian tour to the band, Rick, Vince, and John Volpe. Carm and Andrea will also be accompanying the band while on tour.
Safe travels to Maureen McAndrew, Joelle Morgan, and Jason Malott who will be travelling with Mary Ward students to Italy over March Break. This group will be departing on Wednesday. Best of luck for a safe and exciting trip!
Wednesday is the Unit 12 Target Date as well as our Unit 12 Check Point/Conditional Zero date. This will trigger our next round of Academic Alert letters. More information to follow….
Thursday is an Extended TA Quad day. Information will be in your mailboxes.
Well folks, this is it! On behalf of Patricia, Santo, Karen and myself, we wish you all the best for March Break. Travel safely, enjoy yourselves, take time with friends and family, laugh, and RELAX!
Happy March Break everyone! Have a great week.
P.S. I hear that Santo may be returning sometime this week. |
