Hello All: This is Odd Week 35 of 40. There are 12 days of school left to hand in units or write tests. The push is on and I’m sure we will all be feeling it shortly if not already.
Congratulations Jose Solarzano who won the Louise Russo Wave Award. There is a significant financial award for Jose as well as $500 directed to Mary Ward. Jose has decided to use the $500 to put towards an award in the name of Bradley Fernandes. Well done, Jose and Ms. Albert.
Our congratulations also go to the Music Department for last week’s Spring Concert. Both Patricia and I were at the concert and it was truly a delight. As always, it was amazing to hear the quality of talent we have here at Mary Ward. Many thanks go to Rick, Vince, Maura, Peter, Eileen, Len, and the Tech crew.
Last Friday, Sr. Cyril Mooney spoke to a very full cafeteria about the last 50 years of her work in India with the Loretto Sisters and the ways in which they have been able to provide education for many of the neediest in Calcutta. Those of us who had the privilege of hearing Sr. Cyril were moved and clearly understood that we were witness to someone who is working as the hands of God. Sr. Cyril will likely be joining us for our final Mass in late May. Thanks to Peter and Mary Louise for organizing a great morning.
The SAC election week has begun. We will be having our annual election speeches and voting this Friday. Good luck to all students who have volunteered to put their names forth.
This Tuesday will be the Jr. English Early Exam block during periods 1 & 2. Students must be registered to write this exam ahead of time. Good luck to our exam writers.
The OASIS committee will meet at lunch in the Office Conference room on Tuesday. See you then. LSSAC will meet Tuesday at 3 p.m. also in the Office Conference room.
This Wednesday we will be having a Staff Meeting at 3 p.m. in the Library.
Thursday, May 21st is our first Extended Test Writing day of the year. The Test Centre will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Students will be able to clean up any outstanding tests. Please remind your advisees.
Thursday, the TCDSB will have an employment fair. Ms. Zidar will be out with several of our students.
Friday is our SAC election. All current grade 9, 10 and 11 students will attend the assembly which will be held in the gym at 2 p.m. TA groups will sit together and upon completion of the assembly, TA groups will return to TA for the voting process. Grade 12 students do not need to attend the assembly but will do their check out prior to the assembly. The schedule for Friday will be in your mailbox later this week.
That is it for now. Have a great week.
