Hello All: This is Even Week 36 of 40. There are 9 more days (not counting Monday) to hand in units and write tests. As a reminder to all, this Friday, May 29th is the deadline for units which require tests. Please remind your advisees!
Congratulations to Paulette Sousa who was nominated and won the CUPE award for outstanding achievement. Paulette will be recognized at a dinner June 4th. Congratulations, Paulette. This couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person.
Congratulations also to all the students who ran in the 2009-10 SAC election race. There were a great number of students who were running for positions this year. Thanks to Sandra Pezzetta and Mary Lynn Arturi for all their assistance in coordinating the Student Council this year and next.
This Monday there will be a lunch-time meeting of the Quad committee. See you in the Office Conference room. Good luck to Tony D’Agostino and the track & field team as they compete in the Metros.
Tuesday is the Broad-Based Technologies in-service. There will be several teachers away - Kitty Chan, Yvette Engalla, Nicole Powell, Bea Dagva, and Marion Poole. These teachers will be supported by Code 85 supplies.
Wednesday is the early writing of the MHF4U final exam. Junior Science students will also be writing their early final exam in the morning as well. Member(s) of the Chaplaincy Team will also be out in the afternoon for a meeting regarding the early September Faith Development day.
Thursday is our Closing Mass celebration. Please pray for great weather so that we can continue our tradition of mass by the water. Mass will begin at 11 a.m. We will be following a Day 0 -Modified schedule for the day. A school BBQ will follow the Mass from 12 – 1 p.m.
This is a reminder that the Test Centre will be open late again this Thursday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Last time to start a test is 4:15 p.m. This is a perfect opportunity for students to do a little catching up.
As was mentioned at the last staff meeting, Marissa Largo, Nicole Powell, Michelle Albert and the Mary Ward Planet staff will be out of the building receiving their Toronto Star Newspaper awards at a special luncheon and ceremony on Thursday. Take lots of photos! Congratulations once again.
Friday will see the early writing of the MPM2D math early final exam during periods 1 & 2. Senior English students will also be writing their early final exams during periods 1 – 3. We have scheduled an additional Year End Review meeting for lunch on Friday in the Library conference room. We will be taking the pulse of the staff to determine whether there is still need to meet given our 2 previous meetings. Please let Patricia, Santo or Andrea know if you have an agenda item or whether you would like to attend the meeting.
Finally, the end is near folks. As the energy increases in intensity, on behalf of the Admin Team, I would ask that we all be vigilant in the halls. There are a number of early final exams being written and we need to move kids in and out of the halls quickly. Please encourage kids to move along as you travel to and from your areas. Encourage your advisees to “walk with a purpose”. We have been taking inquiries regarding students that have finished everything this year. Any students that are finished all their work/exams, and whose parents would like them to stay home, must provide a written note from their parents for our attendance records.
That’s it for now. Good luck to all of us and have a great week.
