Welcome to Grade One, a busy year of growth. We would like to
share with you some items that will address the most common concerns.
-
The children will be asked to practice reading nightly. The
reader and duo-tang should be returned to school everyday.
-
Each month the Scholastic book club offers a variety of paperbacks,
hard cover books, cassettes and other age appropriate learning
materials. You are under no obligation to buy. However, should
you be interested, simply check the appropriate box on the order
form and return the form to us with the payment. Payment should
be in the form of a cheque. The books usually arrive within
two to three weeks.
-
In order to have a safe and positive learning environment the
children are expected to follow rules of good manners, work
quietly when required to do so, speak courteously to teachers,
parents and classmates, obey instructions promptly, treat school
property with care, refrain from rough play and assist with
classroom chores.
-
Please ensure that your child comes to school with pencils,
erasers, crayons or pencil crayons in a simple pencil case.
Toy-like school supplies are a distraction.
-
We welcome your input and assistance. After all, no one knows
a child better than the parent. If we feel a child is experiencing
difficulty in any area, we will notify you immediately. Should
you have any concerns, please contact us through the office
or by sending a note. We will be happy to schedule an appointment
to meet with you.
