Grade 3
Welcome to
the wonderful world of Grade Three! We are looking forward to
another great year at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. We
would like to provide you with some information to help make this
a successful and safe year for your child.
General
Expectations
The
students are expected to follow the O.L.S. Code of Behaviour,
as outlined in the student planner.
Homework
and Tests
All
assignments should be done neatly and to the best of the child’s
ability. Assignments that have not been completed during class
time must be completed at home. A spelling dictation covering
the week’s spelling unit and Word Wall Words will take place
each Friday. Tests in other subject areas are sent home to be
signed and returned. Time spent on homework should not exceed
30 minutes. If your child is receiving more than this amount,
it means that he/she is not completing the required work in class.
Grade
Three Provincial Assessment - EQAO
In 1997, the Provincial Government began the EQAO testing of Grade
Three students across Ontario. The students will be participating
in Reading, Writing and Mathematics assessment activities during
a short block in the third term. Further information will be provided
as the testing period approaches.
Agenda
Students
are expected to write all homework, class reminders and upcoming
events in the agenda daily. It is the student’s responsibility
to ensure that all necessary books are taken home. It is hoped
that children will develop a sense of responsibility for their
own assignments. Please review your child’s planner on a
daily basis.
Communication
and Contact with Home
We
are dedicated to supporting you in nurturing your child intellectually,
socially, spiritually and physically. In order to coordinate home
and classroom goals, parental assistance is welcomed. If your
child is experiencing difficulty in any area, you will be notified
in a timely manner. Should you have any concerns, please set up
an appointment through the office at (416) 393-5246 or by leaving
a note in the student agenda.
