Objectives for the Year:
• To develop a Christian atmosphere within the classroom.
• To be sensitive to the needs of each child and attempt to meet those needs.
• To develop a positive self-concept within each student.
• To help the students reach their potential as individuals.
• To develop in each child an interest in reading and an endless quest for knowledge.

Student Responsibilities:
• Come prepared for class! Have homework assignments completed and required notebooks and textbooks on hand.
• Develop effective work and study habits. All work is to be completed to the best of your ability.
• Participate during class discussions and lessons.
• Be responsible for catching up on work missed during absences, including the days of the Gifted Program and sports tournaments. Any test or quizzes missed will be written upon arrival (first day back).
• Develop a buddy system to track assignments when absent.
• Seek help when necessary from teacher, parents and peers.
• Show courtesy to peers and teachers.
• Arrive to class on time.
• Adhere to the routines established by the school.
• Homework letters are to be filled out when homework is incomplete (signed by parents and filled by the teacher).
• Incident reports are to be filled out when unacceptable behavior occurs both in the class and in the school (signed by parents and filed by the teacher).

Parental Responsibilities:
Regular attendance is critical. Whenever possible attempt to book appointments outside of class time. Please be sure not to book any vacations throughout the year that would compromise your child’s attendance in their classes and ongoing assessment activities.
• Check agenda for daily homework assigned.
• Encourage your child to read.
• Occasionally sit down with your child and look over assigned work.
• Provide a quiet place for homework completion.
• Encourage your child to do his/her personal best.
• Try to limit the amount of television watched and the amount of time spent on the phone/internet.

Teacher Responsibilities:
• Explain to student the purpose and importance of homework and its connection to school and success.
• Teach skills necessary for the students to complete homework (note-making, preparation for tests, etc…)
• Provide support to parents and students to help establish homework routines and effective study habits.
• Use homework as a vehicle for developing and reinforcing learning.
• Monitor, check, or evaluate homework.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers to assign homework and assignments, thus avoiding work overload in rotary subjects.
• Communicate with parents.

Evaluation
• Daily work completion-teacher monitors notebook assignments.
• Completion of assignments
