It is very important that our school records be up-to-date and complete. If you have changed your address or you have a new phone number (home, work or emergency contact number), please inform us immediately.

School Hours:

School hours at Our Lady of Wisdom School are as follows:

Grades 1-8
Morning Session: 9:00 - 12:00
Afternoon Session: 1:00 - 3:30

JK/SK Program
AM: 9:00 - 11:30
PM: 1:00 - 3:30

Attendance/Punctuality:

Please encourage good attendance and punctuality. If your child is going to be late or absent, please telephone the school.

Office hours are from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Our answering machine is available to take your calls after these hours.

In the event that a child is absent and no message has been received, it will be necessary to contact you at home or at work. Please do not send a sick child back to school until he or she has completely recovered. Children who are ill cannot do their best work and are often contagious. We have no facilities in the school to care for children who are sick. If a child is well enough to come to school, he or she will be expected to go outside for recess.

Children who arrive late will be issued a late slip from the office before entering class. Parents of children who are frequently late will be asked to assist in finding a solution to this problem.

Use of the Telephone:

Children are not allowed to use the phone while at school. If, for some reason, your child needs to contact you, the teacher will make the necessary arrangements.

Lunch Procedure:

Pupils who remain at school for lunch must stay on the school grounds during the lunch period. A child who normally eats lunch at school MUST have WRITTEN parental permission to leave the school grounds.

Students may not leave school at any time during school hours without the permission of the principal. Students who are required to leave early for an appointment MUST present a note signed by a parent or guardian.

Letters to Parents

During the school year, a number of newsletters, notes, excursion forms will be sent home. We expect students to ensure that their parents receive and return the necessary forms to the school as promptly as possible. Please note that our monthly calendars are sent out on the last school day of the month.

Excursions

During the school year, the teacher may arrange class trips. Excursion forms signed by a parent and the cost of the trip are due no later than two days before the trip. Students will not be allowed to phone home to obtain permission to accompany the class. Children must remember to follow bus safety rules in order to get safely to and from the destination.

Students not going on a trip should return the form indicating they are unable to accompany the class.
