Discipline Policy
Fundamental School Rules
| All members of the school community are expected to observe all rules and behave in a mannerly fashion | |
| Students are expected to follow the directives of the school staff and to be courteous and respectful at all times | |
| Students shall attend school dressed appropriately adhering to the school dress code | |
| Students must respect the property of others | |
| Disagreements should be resolved in a non violent manner | |
| The personal and physical well being of all individuals shall be respected | |
| Any expression of hate directed at an individual based on their gender, race, or ethno-cultural background is prohibited |
WHAT BEHAVIOURS ARE NOT PERMITTED?
The following lists are not all-inclusive but are designed to give
children an indication of types of behaviour that are not acceptable.
1. Physically Inappropriate Behaviours
| aggression | |
| punching | |
| kicking | |
| pushing | |
| bullying and intimidation | |
| spitting at or on someone | |
| choking | |
| fighting and/or "play fighting" | |
| the possession of items that could be used as "weapons" | |
| using items with intent to injure | |
| other behaviours deemed inappropriate |
2. Inappropriate Verbal Behaviour
| not telling the truth | |
| profane language (swearing) | |
| threats | |
| rude response and gestures | |
| racial/religious comments | |
| put-downs | |
| "screaming" at someone |
3. Stealing
| taking property belonging to another student, school staff member, volunteer or the school without the owners consent. |
4. Vandalism
| willfully destroying or defacing school property or the property of other students, staff or volunteers |
5. Uncooperative Behaviour
| refusing to follow a school rule | |
| inappropriate lunch room behaviour | |
| rude responses | |
| intentionally disrupting the activities of other students | |
| dressing inappropriately |
