The Albion
Hills Field Centre is located in the 500-hectare Albion Hills Conservation Area
found on the West Side of highway 50 north of Bolton, Ontario. The centre boasts a panoramic view of the rolling
topography of the Caledon Hills. The property is bisected by the HumberRiver. Extensive tracts of coniferous plantation, mixed
deciduous woodlots, wetlands and meadow provide a wilderness surrounding.
The buildings
are of B.C. red cedar and granite worked together to provide a beautiful 10,000
square foot chalet-style building with accommodation for 40 students and 4
supervisors. A massive stone fireplace highlights the lounge; the dining room
overlooks wetland habitat. The modern air-conditioned dormitory,
washrooms and teaching areas complete this wheelchair-accessible building.
To
the south of the main building is a commercial dairy farm operation, to the
northeast is the pioneer log cabin (circa 1830) and to the east the sugar shack.
