The
Lake St. George Field Centre is situated on a beautiful kettle lake on the Oak
Ridges Moraine. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority developed it in
partnership with area boards (including TCDSB) in 1979. The 140 hectare site
contains a variety of resources, providing numerous opportunities for students
to participate in field activities.
There are two separate dormitories on the property that operate independent of
each other. Each dormitory includes classrooms, lounge and recreational areas
and can accommodate up to 40 students and 4 teachers.
Balanced meals are provided by a professional cooking staff in a central dining
hall which is a five minute walk from the dormitories. The dining hall is
situated in a beautiful country home, set on an estate property dating back to
the late eighteenth century.
The
centre is located near the town of Oak
Ridges, north of Richmond
Hill.
The entrance to the Field Centre is on the north side of Bethesda Sideroad
between
Bayview Avenue
and Leslie
Street.
