History &
Tradition The name Blessed Sacrament refers to the presence of Christ under the appearance of bread and wine. The Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the tabernacle of the church and is central to the faith of Catholics.
Blessed Sacrament Catholic School has been educating children in the north Toronto area for more than 65 years. In a strong academic environment, children learn the knowledge and skills needed for their future, grow to be caring and contributing members of their community, and learn to love all that is true, noble, and good.
The school was established in 1927, housed in a large house near the present buildings. The Sisters of Loretto directed the school through its early years, providing many of the teachers and the principal. Students moved into the new building in 1945. A large wing was added in 1965 which included a gymnasium and a library. The school has a high level of academic expectations, well-developed arts and music programs, and a tradition of strong sports teams. The addition of one floor will house classrooms and an expanded library. Blessed Sacrament moves into the future well prepared to continue the tradition of Catholic education.
The location of our school provides fast and easy access to the whole of Toronto. Our location on Bedford Park is monitored on a regular basis to ensure a safe environment. Our safe arrival program ensures that late or absent students are accounted for.
Blessed Sacrament offers a complete program for junior kindergarten to grade 8. In addition to the regular course of studies. Blessed Sacrament offers:

Blessed Sacrament Publishes Anthology of
Family Stories
The Blessed Sacrament
community has collaborated to create a unique book of family
stories. The book contains anecdotes and stories of old and new
traditions written by eager students with the help of their
parents. The concept was introduced by Tellery author Dan Yashinksi
earlier this year. The school community recently held a day-long
festival to celebrate the launch of the book, which includes
illustrations by the authors. The festivities took place in the
gym, which was temporarily transformed to look like a Café/Bookstore
for the day to display the students’ stories. --Photos
French Public Speaking
Congratulations to Robert Bazzocchi for placing 1st in the grade
4-6 semi-finals of the French Public Speaking Contest for the North
region in the extended French category and to Korto Zambeli-Tardif
who placed 2nd in the FSL Plus category for grade 7 students. Nicole
Stinson, grade 5, finished 2nd in the FSL Plus category for
her age group.
Tree of Life
We at Blessed Sacrament C.S. believe in educating
the ‘whole child’ through their Spiritual and Character development.
It is for this reason; our Liturgical Committee has begun a new
initiative at the school with the Tree of Life display in the front
foyer. Each month there is a virtue that we will be featuring with
both in class and extra-curricular activities. With our Tree of
Life, we are encouraging any adult (teacher, parent or visitor) OR
child to nominate someone in the school who has shown for example an
act of courage (for the month of January) by writing their name and
grade with the nominator’s name on the back of a leaf. The leaves
will then be placed on our Tree of Life. Each month will feature a
different theme with a colour coded leaf as follows:
January – Courage – blue leaf
February – Love – Pink
March – Forgiveness – Purple
April: - Justice – Yellow
May: - Compassion – Orange
For our nominating adults, leaves may be found in the front office. We would like to see our Tree of Life flourish by spring time.

“DI Challenge” at Blessed Sacrament
Blessed Sacrament Catholic School hosted a
Destination Imagination Challenge recently at the school.
Parents were invited to observe students while they participated
in problem-solving challenges. Groups comprised of 2 to 7
students, from Grades 3 to 8 participated. There were 5
different challenges the children choose from. There are also
'Instant Challenges' with a time limit that children are
challenged with as well. Two levels of competition are
available: Rising Stars for elementary; and Middle Grades Gr.
6-8) This all leads up to a final competition at St.
Basil-the-Great College School on March 29th. If the
student's group comes in 1st or 2nd in their category, they will
continue onto the Worlds' competition being held this year in
Tennessee, USA in May. The evening provided parents with an
opportunity to see what Destination Imagination is all about and
how they can help their children succeed.
