St. Cyril, for whom our school was named, converted to Christianity against the laws of the government, and despite opposition from his family. Because of his strong faith, he refused to renounce Christ, and was martyred by being cast into a fire. We aspire to follow St. Cyril's strong commitment to Christ.
St. Cyril Catholic School is one of three schools in St. Edward's Parish. We are dedicated to nuturing your child academically, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually through our faith based curriculumn and caring Catholic environment.
St. Cyril was built in 1958 and extended in 1966 to include a third floor. During the 1993-94 school year, a before- and after-school program was begun to facilitate the needs of working parents. At the request of parents, the program was extended to include full day child care in 1995. The school has, over the years, established strong ties with the church and the community at large. Many of the students presently enrolled in our school have parents who are former St. Cyril graduates.
In addition to our English track, French immersion program was developed and commenced at the senior kindergarten level In 1985. As a result, all the children are immersed in an enriched bilingual environment. In additional, we offer many extra-curricular activities such as swimming, hockey and chess.
St. Cyril School has an active community that shares in the education process. Parents volunteer in the classes as well as in the library. They assist with coaching and transportation for extra-curricular sports and activities, and even help us run house leagues. Parents are always in attendance to support school masses, sports events, science fairs, etc.
