a)
Renewal of Symantec Anti-Virus Maintenance Agreement p.1-p.3.
That the Tender
for the renewal of the Symantec Anti-Virus Maintenance Agreement be awarded
to GenX Solutions Inc. being a 3-year agreement and the lowest annual cost
proposal meeting the Board’s specifications in the amount of $556,523.00
plus $44,521.84 PST and $12,466.12 net GST for the total annual amount of
$613,510.96.
b)
Report regarding French Immersion Bussing and Daycares p.4-p.10.
1) That the
expansion of the French Immersion program be considered as a part of the
long term accommodation plan.
2)
Should sufficient funds
become available through the Ministry’s Transportation Grant that a report
be brought back to the Board of Trustees to determine a course of action in
regards to improving Transportation Service, including options for French
Immersion, Gifted, and secondary school transportation.
3) That a letter be sent
to the Minister of Education detailing the inequities in the funding of
Student Transportation and requesting a new funding formula be implemented
that will meet the needs of Catholic families in the City of Toronto.
c)
Report Regarding Transportation Policy Changes p.11-p.22.
That Transportation policies
S.T.01 and S.T.03 be rescinded and the following policies be adopted.
TRANSPORTATION - S.T.01
Policy
Transportation may be provided to pupils
where a substantial number of Catholic pupils have difficulty in availing
themselves of a Catholic education, or for Special Education Programs and
Services.
Regulations:
1. Home to school transportation
shall:
a)
be provided for elementary level pupils who, because they are
academically delayed, have social/emotional difficulties or other learning
needs, are deemed by an I.P.R.C. to require programs not offered in their
home school;
b)
be provided for elementary level pupils who are certified by a
medical practitioner to be temporarily or permanently unable to walk to
school due to ongoing medical issues and supported through Board approved
documentation signed by a physician;
c)
be provided for qualified pupils living within the transportation
area of an Eastern Rite Catholic elementary school where the walking
distance to the school is more than 1.5 km;
d)
be provided where no less than 30 existing or new elementary school
pupils live more than 1.5 km from the nearest Catholic school or the
proposed site thereof; or where safety hazards, as defined, exist;
e)
be considered by the school principal for elementary level pupils as
a temporary service where individual hardship exists and home to school
transportation is the most appropriate response in accordance with the
guidelines for exceptional circumstances as established by the Board from
time to time; and
f)
where funds are available, service is provided for all (resident)
pupils attending the gifted program who reside more than 1.5 km from the
centre school which they attend.
2.
TTC tickets shall:
a)
be provided for elementary pupils attending St. Michael Choir School
who live more than 1.5 km from the school;
b)
be provided for individual pupils attending Eastern Rite Catholic
Schools who do not live within a school transportation area;
c)
be considered by the school principal for elementary and secondary
school pupils as a temporary service where individual hardship exists and
TTC tickets are the most appropriate response;
d)
be provided for elementary school pupils attending partial immersion
programs (middle immersion grades 5 to 8) where the walking distance to the
program is 1.5 km or more and TTC service is available and utilized;
e)
where funds are available, service be provided for resident and
non-resident pupils attending the Gifted Program who reside 1.5 km or more
from the centre school and TTC service is available and utilized;
f)
be provided for resident and non-resident secondary school pupils
enrolled in cooperative education programs provided that TTC service is
available and utilized.
3.
Regular home to school transportation for kindergarten programs
shall:
a)
be provided for all pupils who reside more than 1.5 km from the
school to which transportation is normally provided; and
b)
be considered by the school principal for any pupil residing less
than 1.5 km from school where adequate parental supervision cannot be
provided while en route to or from school or personal hardship, family
circumstances or unusual hazards warrant.
4.
Where funds are available, School to School transportation shall be
provided for all Grade 5 and 6 pupils enrolled in the gifted program.
5.
Anyone wishing to appeal a decision or recommendation made by staff
can appear in person at the Board’s Administrative and Corporate Services
Committee to present their case to the Board of Trustees.
TRANSPORTATION - PROCEDURE FOR
ANNUAL REVIEW AND REMOVAL OF NON-QUALIFYING BUS ROUTES S.T.03Policy
The Toronto Catholic District School Board
shall undertake an annual review of all regular home-to-school bus routes.
Regulations:
1.
The Transportation Department shall review all regular home-to-school
bus routes for compliance with Board approved criteria in November of each
year.
2.
Where a particular bus route no longer complies with Board approved
criteria a report will be prepared for the consideration of the School CSAC,
school Principal and school community.
3.
If the School community wishes to eliminate the bussing within the
Non Qualifying area, the school principal should notify Student
Transportation Services who will prepare a report for the Administrative and
Corporate Services Committee in January.
4.
If the Administrative and Corporate Services Committee approves the
removal of bussing the school community will be informed by the end of
February
5.
There will be no changes to existing bus routes until the first day
of the next school year.
d)
Report regarding Replacement of Portables - Francis Libermann Catholic
Secondary School (Trustee Ward 8) p.23-p.24.
That the following portables be
declared surplus to the needs of the Board, and disposed of either by sale
or demolition, in accordance with Board policy:

Best Start Plan Status Report – Identification of Potential Schools for
Child Care Expansion

That the Toronto Catholic District School Board advise the City of Toronto
