TCDSB Congratulates the Kioussis Family
Trustee Nancy Crawford presented a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of
the Board to the Kioussis family and their staff of Q-ssis Banquet
Hall, at their annual community Christmas Family Dinner on December 18th.
Q-ssis is a family-run Banquet Hall facility in Scarborough which has been
generously providing a turkey dinner to families in the Scarborough area for
the past 21 years. They serve guests at three sittings throughout the
afternoon. In the past, they have served over 2000 guests in one day,
including hundreds of tickets over the past 10 years to families in TCDSB
Scarborough-area schools.
The children and families who attend thoroughly enjoy the event; for many of
them, it is the only Christmas Party they have opportunity to enjoy. Many of
the families are new immigrants with few family and friends and are
experiencing the tradition for the first time while others look forward to a
formal dinner out with all the trimmings of Christmas. The Kioussis family
and the banquet hall staff put on a wonderful party complete with
table-linens, Santa (who gives out gifts to the children), Christmas music
and a sit-down dinner, with all the trimmings, served by volunteers.
