Staff Development/System Initiatives
What does Staff Development mean for our Catholic Schools? In our schools we care for people because of their intrinsic value. This, then, is the fundamental assumption which underlies all staff development efforts in our Board. Staff Development in the Toronto Catholic District School Board is the caring response of a caring community. All of our community members are apprenticed to life in its ideal form, life that is: devoted to inquiry, touched by beauty, informed by justice, guided by reason, guided by simplicity, graced by elegance, and sanctified by caring.
The Staff Development Department of the Curriculum Leadership & Innovation Team is a central and critical resource for the personal and professional growth of all staff by providing services which demonstrate TCDSB’s commitment to the professional growth of the whole person. Its’ mandate includes serving the spiritual, interpersonal, professional and leadership development needs of our community.
Staff Development renews, encourages and re-energies members of the TCDSB community to refine and enhance their gifts to better serve the students in our care. It enables staff to serve others as a Gospel community with compassion, energy and effectiveness as together, we transform mission into service.
The Staff Development Department provides support for a number of system wide initiatives. The following is a breakdown of initiatives/programs available through this department for all staff.
