Sisters St. Joseph CSJ 170th Title Slide Image.png

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, are a Roman Catholic congregation of women founded in France in 1648.  They have been in Toronto since 1851 and began their 170th Anniversary year celebration, starting October 7, 2020.

Read more about who they are:

"As a religious community, we are brought together by the love of Christ. We are called by God, the Gospel and the Church to serve those in need in simplicity and compassion and to pursue social justice and equality for all. We are committed to nurture community with those who are homeless, alienated or poor, women at risk, and our wounded earth. We continue our long tradition of meeting unmet needs with life-giving ministries.

Our ministries serve seniors, young adults, newcomers to Canada and those who are alienated and economically disadvantaged. We care for all creation with a special emphasis on clean drinking water as a human right. We invite others to collaborate with us in our mission and ministry and participate in our spirituality."

See their wonderful contributions through the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto History Panels slide deck.  You can also learn more about their history on their Congregation of St. Joseph (CSJ) website.

For the 170th Anniversary theme, explore how the Sisters are  "Celebrating Our Oneness with God, Creation and Neighbour".

Earlier this year, the Sisters of St. Joseph were invited to participate in a board-wide Lenten reflection broadcast, "Journeying with St. Joseph"

As part of Catholic Education Week, intermediate students will be in conversation with the Sisters of St. Joseph to learn more about nurturing hope through gifts, talents, and vocation.

St. Joseph Morrow Park C.S.S. is installing a history wall mural in their new school site, to honour the contributions of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto.  See an image of the wonderful tribute that will be installed by the end of June 2021:
