Municipal Elections


The 2022 municipal election will be held on October 24, 2022​. 

As of May 2, 2022, nominations to run for municipal council or school trustee may be filed with the City Clerk’s Office in the City of Toronto, marking the beginning of the municipal election period. 

Find your Local Trustee Candidate


Visit the City of Toronto website​ to find your local Toronto Catholic District School Board Ward Candidate for the upcoming elections.

Important Information for Voters and Trustee Candidates


  • Before You Vote


    • ​Before you vote, check your designation as a Catholic school supporter on your latest property tax assessment. If you are not designated as a Catholic school supporter, you will not be eligible to vote for a Catholic School Trustee.

      How do I find out if I'm registered as an English Catholic School supporter?
      Check your most recent Property Assessment Notice or visit VoterLookup.ca​ to check the accuracy of your voter information including separate school support status. You can also contact the TCDSB Assessment Department at 416-222-8282 ext. 2446 or ext. 2283.

      Voting for Catholic School Board Representation
      Catholic ratepayers must declare themselves to be Catholic and separate school electors to cast a vote in the election of separate school trustees in municipal elections. Verify that you are registered as a separate school supporter on the VoterLookup.ca​ website. If not registered, ratepayers can complete an Application for Direction of School Support form to direct their support to Catholic schools.

      Changing Support Status at the Polling Station
      If your support status is incorrect, ask for an ‘Application to Amend Voters’ List’. This form may be completed and submitted at the polling station. Ensure the ballot you are given is a separate school ballot.

      If you have submitted your Assessment form to the Board and it has not been reflected in your voter registration, please indicate at the polling station that you are Catholic. You will be required to sign a form in order to vote for the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) Trustee of your choice.

  • Reminders for Trustee Candidates


    • The TCDSB thanks all Trustee candidates for their interest in representing Catholic parents in the upcoming elections. Your cooperation in following the below guidelines is appreciated.

      Signage / Campaign Materials
      Please be aware that no signage or campaign material can be posted or distributed on TCDSB property. Refer to Policy A.40​ for more information. Candidates are free to campaign on public property in the vicinity of schools.

      TCDSB recognizes the importance of encouraging civic engagement in our young people, and some schools may decide to host an all candidates meeting for all Trustee candidates in their area so that students can engage in meaningful discussions about the issues that concern them. 

      We encourage all Trustee candidates to take advantage of the opportunity should one arise; however, once again we would ask you to adhere to the restriction on distribution of campaign material in the classroom or on school property. 

      Catholic School Parent Councils may also invite Trustee candidates to attend all candidates meetings at their local school. We encourage all candidates to take advantage of this opportunity to meet Catholic school supporters in their Ward. Refer to Policy H.M.25 for more information.

      Use of the TCDSB Logo
      We remind all candidates that campaign literature, including printed material as well as digital material (web, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others) cannot include the use of the TCDSB logo. Please refer to Policy T.16 for the policy regarding the use of the TCDSB logo.
