Stephanie De Castro | Student Trustee-elect for 2021-2023

Stephanie De Castro is a secondary school student at Senator O’Connor Catholic School. She was elected by her peers in April 2021 to be the newest Student Trustee, representing the voice and interests of over 90,000 students at the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).

Stephanie is a devout Catholic, and is a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish in Scarborough. She has been involved in student leadership for many years, beginning in grade 9 where she acted as a representative on student council and the Catholic Student Leadership Impact Team.

Stephanie has also been involved in a number of student clubs and teams, including Stop the Stigma, Safe Schools, CSLIT, SAGA and a faith committee. She was a CSLIT representative for social affairs, social justice, The Angel Foundation for Learning, and equity. She also is a member of the TCDSB’s 2SLGBTQ+ Advisory Committee.

Stephanie enjoys spending her extra time hiking, writing, and doing volunteer work, most especially through her role as Student CEO and Head of Operations of a youth driven non-profit organization, H4Community. She was also a lead for Operation Youth Vote in Scarborough to help youth practice their civic duties and facilitated workshops for Student Senate events such as Voices that Challenge and ILITE.

As a Student Trustee, Stephanie hopes to create an everlasting, positive impact on students, ensuring that equity, mental health and well-being are always a top priority. She looks forward to bringing TCDSB students together to collaborate and exercise their voice that ensures a positive educational experience for all students.
