African Canadian Mass and Cultural Exposé

On Wednesday, February 7, 2018 over 500 staff, students and special guests gathered in the theatre at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts for a special Mass in commemoration of African Canadian Heritage, celebrated by Father Obinna and Father Kerr, a Missionary of the Poor visiting from Jamaica. Following the Mass was a Cultural Exposé featuring student performances from schools across TCDSB. The Exposé began with Associate Director Dan Koenig and former Community Relations Coordinator Kirk Mark reading, for the first time, the TCDSB proclamation of February as African Canadian Heritage Month. Student performances showcased a variety of talents including singing, dancing, drumming, poetry, and more. It was a wonderful celebration of culture and heritage.
