Toronto Catholic District School Board

TCDSB Seeking Help from Parents, Students and Public as it Seeks Fifth Consecutive Balanced Budget
Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) is holding a Special Budget Consultation Meeting on May 20, 2014, as it begins to finalize a balanced budget for 2014-2015.
“This is an important opportunity for individuals, school councils, community groups and students, to provide the critical input needed to establish budget priorities for the 2014-2015 academic year,” says TCDSB Budget Committee Chair John Del Grande. “Achieving effective and equitable programs and services while better meeting the needs of all students is an important goal of this consultation.”
With an annual budget of $1.1 billion, the TCDSB is one of Toronto’s largest employers, with over 14,000 employees who are responsible for the daily education of some 92,000 students in 201 schools.  The Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan continues to provide guidance through investments in 21st century learning and technology, special education, Full-Day Kindergarten, and a focus on literacy and math programs.
“Ongoing funding pressures continue to pose significant challenges for the Board,” says TCDSB Chair Jo-Ann Davis. “Despite these fiscal constraints, we continue to maintain system-wide stability without compromising student achievement, but we still need to hear from as many people as possible.”
Those wishing to provide written submissions can do so until May 15th, in order to be included on the special budget meeting agenda for the consideration of Trustees.
Anyone who wants to make an in-person presentation to the Board may contact the Board’s Recording Secretary at 416-222-8282 ext. 2293 to be placed on the speakers list for the meeting.
