Dr. Mary Anne McCarty-Mayor Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been created by Mr. James Mayor in memory of his late wife, Dr. Mary Anne McCarty-Mayor, honoring her professional life as a Psychologist with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Throughout her three-decade career, Dr. McCarty-Mayor helped countless children and won the abiding respect, admiration and affection of her peers. On retirement, she undertook volunteer work but, just as she was becoming more involved, a long-standing illness impeded her participation and, in 2008, she passed away. In establishing this scholarship, Mr. Mayor wishes to benefit a student while honoring Mary Anne’s memory and her dedication to her community and the field of Psychology.
The award of $500 is granted to a student graduating from St. Joseph College School who demonstrates academic excellence, personal achievement, who contributes to the lives of others, and who plans to pursue the study of Psychology at university.  Financial need, in the broad sense, may be considered as a “tie breaker”.
Staff at the school will select the recipient.  Mr. Mayor is to be invited by the school to the graduation ceremony to present the annual award.
