Fintan Kilbride Memorial Scholarship


The Fintan Kilbride Memorial Scholarship is open to eligible graduate students of a Toronto Catholic District School Board secondary school who are accepted into a recognized post-secondary institution.



i)  a copy of the student’s résumé including his or her school’s name, social justice initiatives and community involvement and;
ii) a 250-word essay illustrating how the student formed his or her commitment to the Gospel values of social justice for the poor and/or marginalized, how the student has attempted to live out this commitment thus far, and how it may be implemented in the student’s future, such as an interest in pursuing International Relations, Peace Studies, International Development, etc.
iii) a letter of reference from someone in the school or community who can attest to the student's contribution to the work of social justice
The final selection of the recipient will be made by a selection panel comprising Ms. Kilbride, the TCDSB Coordinato​r of Student Leadership or his designate and a Superintendent of Education or designate.  Ms. Kilbride or her designate, unless and until she otherwise requests, shall be a member of the selection panel.
A cheque will be presented to the recipient at his or her graduation ceremony.  Ms. Kilbride, or her designate, is to be invited to attend the graduation and to present the award.
The TCDSB, in consultation with Ms. Kilbride, or her designate, will review annually and adjust the amount of the award, if sustainable, in order to keep the award in line the minimum amount of $500 per year.
An award of $500 will be given to the recipient when he or she provides proof of first-year registration in a recognized post-secondary institution.
