Holly Jones  Spirit Award
 
Interest earned on a principal amount of $1000 as well as any further contributions, are to be used to provide an annual award to grade five students from the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s elementary schools who are held in high esteem within their school community with the intent of having all schools participate. 
 
REGULATIONS 
 
1.                  A principal amount of $1,000 or such amount as reported annually, shall be maintained in the current accounts of the Board. 
 
2.                  Interest earned on this principal amount as well as any further contributions will be used to provide an annual award of an amount up to $100.00 for each of the recipients. 
 
3.                  Grade 5 students, who are held in high esteem within their school community for: 
    • adjusting well to new environments an assisting other students who may be new to the school community
    • reaching out to students in need of companionship
    • showing determination in dealing with barriers to learning
    • establishing positive relationships with staff and students
    • participating in and being involved with school activities
    • showing interest in activities in the area of the arts, clubs, sports and other areas outside of school hours, and
    • demonstrating a positive outlook                      
are eligible for consideration for the Holly Jones Spirit Award.  
                     
4.         The award will be given on the recommendation of the principal, in consultation with the grade 5 teacher of the participating schools.  The Holly Jones family, unless and until they otherwise request, shall be invited to participate in the selection of the recipients. 
 
5.                  The cash award will be presented during the first week of June of each year. 
 
6.                  A plaque containing the names of recipients will be placed in the lobby of the recipient’s school.
