Student and Parent Resources during the Closure

March 24, 2020: TCDSB Letter to Parents re Updates during the Closure

Phase 1 - Learn at Home
The Ministry of Education announced that for the two weeks after the March Break, students and parents would be provided with Learn at Home resources. This is Phase 1 of the Ministry’s plan to support student learning.

Mental Health Help Support
We recognize that this is a stressful time for young people.  A reminder that Kids Help Line, 1-800-668-6868 is available as a support for mental health related issues. Students can also reach Kids Help Line in a few other ways (text and live chat) and access online resources on their site. You will find the link to Kids Help Line on the TCDSB Learning Resources site.

Ministry and TCDSB Learning Resources
The Ministry-provided resources can be found on the Ministry of Education Learn at Home site:https://www.ontario.ca/page/learn-at-home or on the TCDSB Learning Resources site.

 (active mar 27 – apr 5 only)

The TCDSB site provides Catholic faith-based curriculum resources which we encourage all students to explore. It is our hope that each child will also engage in Literacy and Numeracy, learning opportunities as well as physical activity each day in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Many resources are available at these links to allow parents and students to personalize their learning activities to their needs during Phase 1.

Also available on the TCDSB Learning Resources site is the TCDSB Summer Playground site, updated every summer to provide learning support for students during the summer months.  Activities are age appropriate and provide interactive activities to engage students. Many of the activities can be done without using devices for those parents who wish to have their children engaged in activities offline.

Planning Ahead
As we approach April 6th, we will enter into Phase 2 of the plan to support student learning.  We continue to work with our Ministry and Union Partners to find ways to best meet our students’ needs. In order to stay committed to our goal of supporting student learning and achievement, we will continue to share updates with you once they are available.
