STUDENT SUCCESS LOGO.jpg
Welcome

On behalf of the TCDSB I would like to welcome you to the Student Success homepage. We hope you will find this to be a useful tool in helping you to become aware of the various supports which are available to you as students, parents and teachers through the Student Success initiative. It is our goal to help each and every student, within our system, achieve their full God-given potential. Within the Board and within each school there are a number of layers of support, and many individuals poised to create the conditions which will optimize each student’s chance for success.

In designing this website we have attempted to showcase the Ministry of Education framework for Student Success, in combination with the programs and special initiatives available within the TCDSB. I would like to thank the many people and departments who have not only contributed materials for this resource tool, but who actually live out and deliver the many initiatives that you will find highlighted here. By working together we are sure to maximize the potential to truly realize “Success for all”.

Nick D'Avella, Superintendent of Student Success

plans to give you a future with hope." Jeremiah 29

Mission
In a school community formed by Catholic beliefs and traditions, our mission is to educate students to their full potential.

Guiding Principles
  • We are governed by Catholic faith and values in all that we do in support of student learning.
  • We believe in the value and potential of each student within our TCDSB system.
  • We believe all educational and career pathways have dignity and are honourable.
  • All decisions within the jurisdiction of our department will be guided by what is in the best interest of student success.
  • We will act in ways that demonstrate our commitment to: justice, equality of opportunity, innovation, risk-taking, courage, flexibility and open-mindedness.
  • We believe learning, at every level, best takes place in a welcoming, community atmosphere. As a central department, we will model and promote the values of working as a team.
  • We believe our students are endowed with a wide range of interests, skills, aptitudes, and aspirations. Educators are encouraged to learn from one another, share ideas and work together to support all students.
  • The TCDSB and the Student Success Department endeavours to continually investigate and promote innovative programming to support student learning.
  • We believe that learning takes place when students are challenged and engaged – intellectually and emotionally. For this to be the case, they must find value, relevance and meaning in their learning experiences.
