Current Season 2014 - 2015

Musical "Urinetown"

Music by  Mark Hollmann , Lyrics by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, Book by Greg Kotis , Rights held by MTI .

Staff Arts is pleased to present something very different this year.  Our lead actors describe this show as a “new direction” for Staff Arts.  Though the title might make some of our fans question our choice,  we hope that it won’t deter you from coming out to see our talented staff perform this satirical sendup on politics, business, society and broadway musicals.  Urinetown is a modern musical and a clever comedy with a current story line, terrific music and great characters.   It is a masterpiece of commentary on society and government.  The overall message, which attacks corporate greed, exploitation of the masses and our unsustainable lifestyle, is still relevant today.

In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!

When her maid's date, a policeman, shows up to take the maid out, Marsha think he is on to her poisoning attempt.
