Interfaith Harmony Week

February 1st to 7th, 2020

The Interfaith Youth Alliance Movement (IYAM), launched by TCDSB students, would like to invite schools to celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW), from February 1st to 7th, 2020.  Consider planning and adapting some of the ideas posted on the WIHW website (e.g. organizing a “harmony breakfast”, interfaith film night, inviting a speaker from a different faith tradition, etc.)  Consider sharing a daily fact, quote, spiritual leader’s insight or an interfaith prayer in the morning.

IYAM invites all families to attend the Interfaith Earth Festival, hosted by the Mary Ward Centre and Archdiocese of Toronto on Sunday, Feb. 16th, from 1 to 5 pm. It is a free public event that focuses on the care of God’s Creation and the Earth Charter. See the poster.
Student artists are invited to express their care for creation and to bring the Earth Charter to life through submission of visual arts pieces (e.g. sculpture, photography, mixed media, etc.).  Students can also perform on the actual day - instrumental or vocal, spoken word, poetry, drama, dance, etc.
Student leaders are needed to organize the Interfaith Kids Corner station and help with arts and crafts, reading picture books, face painting, etc.
Volunteer hours will be given to student artists and student leaders for preparation time, as well as the four hours for attending the festival.

To register as a student leader or artist, please complete the following form:
