International Women's Day

March 8th

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not a country, group or organisation specific.
The Toronto Catholic District School Board joins the world in annually celebrating March 8th as International Women’s Day.

To commemorate International Women’s Day, the Arts Department will unveil an Art Show that celebrates women:

Friday, March 8, 2019

Catholic Education Centre

80 Sheppard Ave. E.

Students from K to 12 are invited to create artwork that honours women throughout history with a particular focus on: leaders within our Catholic Church, heroes, role models or women who have sought non-traditional careers.

Students can choose to create posters, graphic novel characters, sculpture, drawings, paintings, mosaics, collage or any other art form of their choice.

All schools are invited to submit 1 piece of artwork per grade for consideration for the International Women’s Day Art Show.

Please include a written component (150 words maximum) for display that explains the significance of your artwork.  All the artwork will be viewed by a selection committee of artists, TCDSB staff and partners in Education. The selected art will be displayed at the Catholic Education Centre on International Women’s Day.

Artwork must be clearly labeled with the name and school of the student. All artwork must be received by February 28, 2019 c/o Vicki McRae, Arts Resource Teacher - CEC 2nd Floor.
