Notes on Translation The electronic translation service on the Toronto Catholic District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation's goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. The Toronto Catholic District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make. The Toronto Catholic District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

New French Immersion Programs
Coming September 2018
We are pleased to share that following the successful community consultation, the Toronto Catholic District School Board is moving forward with the implementation of French Immersion Programming for September 2018 at the following schools:
Registration will begin in January 2018.
The introduction of enhanced programming at TCDSB schools is one aspect of our Long Term Program Plan (LTPP). Increasing the number of French Immersion programs available in our schools is a part of the LTPP and the Board’s ongoing responsibility to offer dynamic educational opportunities to its students across the City of Toronto.
The gradual implementation of French Immersion at these elementary schools will begin with establishing one French Immersion Kindergarten class in September 2018, in addition to continuing to provide English programming across all grades for families who do not wish to participate in French Immersion. This will ensure balanced growth within each school community over the coming eight years as French Immersion expands through the grades, so that by 2026 French Immersion will be available to students from Kindergarten through to Grade 8 at these school sites. Students in the English program stream will continue to receive daily instruction in Core French from Grade 1 through to Grade 8.
The input of our parent/guardian community is essential to informing the Board’s program plans for our schools. We thank you for taking the time to participate and provide your feedback throughout this process.
Should you have any questions about the implementation of French Immersion at your child’s school, please contact your school office.
We invite you to share this good news with families in your neighbourhood who may be seeking French Immersion education for their children and invite them to contact our admissions department for information about registration in January.
