A message from the Director of Education and Chair of the Board

TCDSB Celebrates
International Language Instructors' Appreciation Day

Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom. ‒ Roger Bacon

On February 21st, the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) will celebrate its dedicated International Language Instructors, who provide our students with valuable opportunities to learn another language and culture.

With the support of international language instructors, students can reach new heights in their learning journey.   Research has shown that learning multiple languages improves student achievement and opens the doors to endless opportunities for students in our ever-changing, interconnected world.

TCDSB began piloting “Heritage Language” classes in 1973, and this tradition continues today, with our International Language Program operating for thousands of students in 44 TCDSB schools.  We are grateful to all the International Language Instructors' who enrich our curriculum and student experience with language learning throughout the school year.

We would like to thank all our International Languages instructors for their service and commitment to TCDSB students and communities.

Rory McGuckin                             Joseph Martino
Director of Education                    Chair of the Board
