International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

October 17th

TCDSB is dedicated to ensuring that all students, staff and families feel a sense of belonging to their school communities and to work to eliminate any barriers that may exist that would enable each individual to feel affirmed. It is appropriate to acknowledge the day to eradicate poverty as the lack of resources can become a barrier to student achievement and well-being. Acts of charity are driven by the desire to help those in need--those who are less fortunate, who have less than we do, who need support, kindness, acceptance and love.

Resource for Primary classrooms--children’s book called Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson which has a powerful message about learning about the power small acts of kindness.  Below is a book trailer which speaks to the message and content of the story in which a new student comes and is stigmatized by her classmates.
