National Volunteer Appreciation Week
April 23-29, 2017
MESSAGE FROM THE
DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
AND CHAIR OF THE BOARD
The Toronto Catholic District School Board is pleased to celebrate National Volunteer Week in recognition of the invaluable part that volunteers play in the life of our Catholic schools. Students and staff across our board are supported by volunteers each and every day, and we are so thankful for their contributions and dedication to our school communities. The caring commitment from our volunteers helps us to nurture welcoming learning environments for our young people, and provides them with opportunities to participate in special events and activities throughout the school year.
In the Year of the Parish we are reminded of the important bond that each school community shares with its parish. We are grateful for the time that pastors and others members of the parish devote to engaging our students and staff in parish life, and to visiting classrooms and supporting school activities. We extend a special thank you to these individuals who continue to be such an important part of our students’ faith formation.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the parents, grandparents, friends, and individuals from our parishes and communities who share their time and talents with our schools. Each in their unique way contributes to the success of our children, and enriches the lives of our students.
We also celebrate the volunteer spirit that is so prevalent among our own staff and students. We see them engaged in community service projects in their schools, neighbourhoods, parishes and overseas, responding to the needs of those who are less fortunate. This generosity of spirit makes us so proud, and we thank you for continuing to exemplify our Catholic Graduate Expectations and putting your faith into action.
May God continue to bless all our volunteers and the important work that they do with such compassion and love.

Once we come to realize how much God has given us, a life of self-sacrifice, of working for Him and for others, becomes a privileged way of responding to His great love.
