Grade 12 Retreat @ St. Philip Neri Parish

On Thursday, November 24th, Madonna's senior religion classes went on retreat to Saint Philip Neri Parish facilitated by HopeStone. The retreat facilitators put the Catholic Church teachings into adventurous, practical, creative and easy to understand experiences for our students. Their program fused Catholic teachings with recreation to engage participants to physically, emotionally, and spiritually experience their faith.

The focus of the grade twelve retreat was on “The Real World.” The day challenged students to think about what they will be faced with once they leave high school and venture into everyday life. The program provided students with the appropriate tools to strengthen, maintain and defend their faith. They were challenged to take a real hard look into their own lives, their habits, and how they will battle the secular world gracefully.
This retreat linked well to multiple themes in their course including: the catholic social teachings, social justice, the catholic graduate expectations, prayer, and more. This day of reflective community learning helped students to better understand the big ideas of their grade twelve religion course.
A special thank you to HopeStone for facilitating this program for students!
