TIPSY Program @ St. Michael's Hospital

Madonna's SHSM Health and Wellness students participated in St. Michael's Hospital TIPSY program on October 14th, 2016. The TIPSY program is an injury prevention program that is offered to high school students in the Greater Toronto Area.   The program included tours of the trauma resuscitation room in the Emergency Department and the Allen T. Lambert Trauma/Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (TNICU). The program was taught by an inter-professional team of nurses, physicians, and representatives from Toronto Police Services, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and a Voice of Injury Prevention (VIP).  The VIP was a trauma survivor who has sustained a brain or spinal cord injury. He recounted first-hand the events leading up to his injury, its consequences and lasting effects.
Thank you to St. Michael's Hospital and to all guest speakers for organizing this hands-on and interactive workshop for our students.
