Toronto Catholic District School Board

 For Parents

 Dear Parents and Guardians:

You are invited to participate in these two very important Board-wide consultations being conducted by the Toronto Catholic District School Board in May.
THE CRITICAL ROLE OF CATHOLIC EDUCATION IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY The Institute for Catholic Education (ICE) wants to hear from everyone in the TCDSB community about Catholic education in Ontario! “Renewing the Promise” is a dialogue to seek your input about Catholic education in Ontario.

A special face to face consultation on “Renewing the Promise” will take place at the May 2nd meeting of the Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (CPIC) starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Catholic Education Centre. We encourage you to attend as it will facilitate your participation in the on-line survey.
You are invited to offer your ideas on-line through a special Thought Exchange website. Please log in at the link provided to complete the survey no later than May 19, 2017: http://signup.thotex.com/iceont/Pyv
The ideas and comments you submit will provide important input for the fall Symposium of the Catholic community in November 2017. When the process is completed, results and analysis will be publically available and form the focus for Catholic Education Week 2018.
PROPOSED CHANGES TO SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMISSIONS POLICY

The Ministry of Education has directed the TCDSB to adopt fixed attendance boundaries for all secondary schools to be consistent with most Ontario school Boards. Complying with the Ministry’s request for boundaries for all TCDSB secondary schools will help us qualify for funds to build new schools in areas where existing schools are overcrowded. The proposed Secondary School Admissions Policy changes may impact your child’s future choice of high schools.

Community consultation begins on May 1 with an online survey (www.tcdsb.org). A special “Face-to-Face” Secondary School Admissions Consultation Night will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 7 pm to 10 pm at the TCDSB’s Catholic Education Centre at 80 Sheppard Avenue East (next to the Sheppard Subway station).
Free parking and child care will be provided for both face to face consultation evenings.
Your participation and feedback in these critical community consultations are invaluable to the TCDSB’s mission to educate our students to transform the world through witness, faith, innovation and action.

Thank you and we look forward to learning from you.

Sincerely,
Angela Gauthier Director of Education
