Varsity Curlers Advance to Gore Regionals

On Tuesday, December 18th, the Cardinals boys and girls curling teams competed in the annual Gore High School Curling Championships at High Park Curling Club.  Facing teams from St. Aloysius Gonzaga and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, both the boys and the girls teams won in their pools to advance to the Gore Regionals which will take place on February 2nd and 3rd in Pickering.  This marks the first time that both boys and girls will move on.

The boys led by skip James Ty, Zachary Doucet, Patrick Kopec and Duncan McLeod, easily won their two games by scores of 9-5 against Gonzaga and 8-4 against Mount Carmel.

The girls led by skip Melanie Ty, Emily Karolidis, Alexandra Lucki and Emma Bailey, also got off to a tremendous start with a convincing 7-3 victory over Mount Carmel.

Unfortunately, both boys and girls "B" teams struggled to win their matches.  However, with their first competitive curling experience, both teams will look forward to making waves at the TDCAAs in February.

Congratulations to all curlers on a fantastic achievement!
